SYNOPSIS: A poetic and personal meditation on displacement, inequality and loss, SKIN OF GLASS follows filmmaker Denise Zmekhol as she discovers that her late father’s most celebrated work as an architect - a modernist glass skyscraper in the heart of São Paulo - has become occupied by hundreds of unhoused families.
What begins as a search for her father’s threatened legacy expands into an exploration of Brazil’s profound social and economic inequality, as the turbulent history of the building becomes a reflection of the country’s own political and social transformations.
